National TVET Skills Show 2019


The 2019 edition exhibition of TVET skills, career and training opportunities took place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre from 8th to 10th February. The three-day conference themed “ Hands on the Future skills show.”  Saw more than a hundred exhibitors showcase their trades and provided a palpable experience for participants to touch, taste, see, feel and hear TVET opportunities.

Attending the official opening ceremony was the Chief Guest Cabinet Secretary of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs prof. Margaret Kobia, Education Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed, Principal Secretary, Ministry of Education  State and Vocational Technical and Training Dr. Kevit Desai, Director & CEO Technical and Vocational Education Training Authority Dr. Kipkirui Langat among other dignitaries.

The Hands on the Future  National TVET Skills Show 2019 brought together thousands of participants including out of school youth, current secondary and primary students, parents, TVET Training Institutions, TVET Training Institutions Tutors, Job recruiting organization and platforms, Development partners and Donors Supporting TVET.

The three-day skills show uniquely featured areas where there is exponential job growth in Kenya including automobile mechanics, building & construction, digital production, entrepreneurship, electrical & solar installation, fashion design, graphic design, hair & beauty, oil and energy, hospitality and catering among others.

The Skills show objectives are; to sensitize youth and their parents to the multitude of career possibilities and training opportunities that exist in Kenya. Provide a forum for public and private TVET institutions, NGOs, private companies and Development partners to showcase their technical, vocational and training opportunities while improving TVET image among students, parents and the general public.
